The Nevada Division of Vital Records (Nevada Vital Records) issues certified copies of Nevada birth certificates and Nevada death certificates, for events which occurred within the State of Nevada. County Recorders only may issue copies of Nevada marriage records. County Clerks only may issue copies of Nevada divorce records. NEVADA BIRTH CERTIFICATES
Nevada Vital Records issues only certified copies of Nevada birth certificates, which are typically acceptable for passport, social security, employment and personal identification purposes.

Who Can Order?
Copies of Nevada birth certificates may only be released to qualified applicants, defined as the registrant (person named on the certificate), a direct family member by blood or marriage, the registrant's guardian or legal representative.

Nevada Vital Records issues certified copies of Nevada death certificates of individuals who died within Nevada , which can typically be used to obtain death benefits, to claim insurance proceeds and for other legal purposes.

Who Can Order?
Nevada death certificates will only be issued to the next of kin or to persons with a legal right to the certificate.

Birth Certificates are available for events that occurred within the State of Nevada from 1911 to present.

A certified copy of a death record that can typically be used to obtain death benefits, claim insurance proceeds, notify social security and other legal purposes. Death Certificates are available for events that occurred within the State of Nevada from 1911 to present.

Important Note - A $1.00 agency fee will be added for Mineral, Clark, and Washoe County death requests.
