MICHIGAN VITAL RECORDS
Michigan Department of Community Health, Division of Vital Records (Michigan Vital Records) issues certified copies of Michigan birth certificates, Michigan death certificates, Michigan marriage certificates and Michigan divorce certificates for events that occurred within the State of Michigan. You may order copies of Michigan Vital Records through VitalChek on an expedited basis. Michigan Vital Records charges a $10.00 RUSH fee for each online order, in addition to VitalChek's $8.50 credit card handling charge.

MICHIGAN BIRTH CERTIFICATES
Michigan Vital Records issues certified copies of Michigan birth certificates that are typically acceptable for passport, social security, school registration, employment, personal identification purposes and other legal purposes.
Authenticated, certified copies of Michigan birth certificates are also available for those records needing an 'apostille' applied by the Office of the Great Seal (please allow an additional 3-4 weeks for this process). An authenticated Michigan birth certificate is not needed for foreign travel.
Who Can Order?
Access to Michigan birth records is restricted. You may order copies of Michigan birth certificates for yourself or a child, as long as you are named on the record being ordered. Anyone not listed on the certificate must submit proof of entitlement. Please visit the Michigan Vital Records website for entitlement requirements. Online orders are not accepted for the birth record of a deceased person as additional information is required.
MICHIGAN DEATH CERTIFICATES
Michigan Vital Records issues certified copies of Michigan death certificates that can typically be used to obtain death benefits, to claim insurance proceeds and for other legal purposes.
