The Alaska Bureau of Vital Statistics (Alaska Vital Records) issues certified copies of Alaska birth certificates, Alaska death certificates, Alaska marriage records and Alaksa divorce records for events which occurred within the state of Alaska. ALASKA BIRTH CERTIFICATES
Alaska Vital Records issues certified copies of Alaska birth certificates, which are typically acceptable for passport, social security, employment and personal identification purposes.

Who Can Order?
Alaska birth certificates are legally confidential in Alaska for 100 years. An applicant may only order his or her own certificate or one for his or her own children. Legal Representatives may also obtain the record if they posses Power of Attorney or Legal Guardianship of the person named on the certificate. A certified copy of guardianship appointment must be submitted to the Bureau before the order can be processed. All requests must include a copy of government-issued picture ID of the applicant. Alaska does not accept telephone orders.

ALASKA DEATH CERTIFICATES
Alaska Vital Records issues certified copies of Alaska death certificates of individuals who died within Alaska, which can typically be used to obtain death benefits, to claim insurance proceeds and for other legal purposes.

Who Can Order?
Alaska death certificates are legally confidential in Alaska for 50 years. Alaska death certificates will only be issued to an immediate family member or to persons who can prove legal right to the certificate. When ordering an Alaska death certificate, you must state your relationship to the person named on the certificate or your reason for needing the record. All requests must include a copy of government-issued picture ID of the applicant. Alaska does not accept telephone orders.

ALASKA DIVORCE RECORDS
Alaska Vital Records issues certified copies of Alaska divorce records of individuals who were divorced within Alaska, which can typically be used for proof of divorce and other legal purposes.

Who Can Order?
Alaska divorce records are legally confidential in Alaska for 50 years. Alaska divorce records will only be issued to the parties of the divorce or their legal representatives. When ordering an Alaska divorce record, you must state your relationship to the person named on the certificate or your reason for needing the record. Please note that divorce decrees are not available through the Alaska Bureau of Vital Statistics but instead must be obtained from the appropriate court. All requests must include a copy of a government-issued picture ID of the applicant. Alaska does not accept telephone orders.
