DETROIT VITAL RECORDS
The City of Detroit Vital Records Office (Detroit Vital Records) issues certified copies of Detroit birth certificates and Detroit death certificates since 1910, for events that occurred within the city of Detroit (excluding events that took place outside the City of Detroit within Wayne County). Detroit Vital Records issues only certified copies of Detroit birth certificates, which are typically acceptable for passport, social security, employment and personal identification purposes. An applicant may only order his or her own certificate or a parent may request one for a child.
