AMHERST BIRTH CERTIFICATES
Amherst Vital Records issues certified copies of Amherst birth certificates, which are typically acceptable for passport, proof of citizenship, social security, employment and personal identification purposes. Amherst birth certificates are available for events that occurred within the Town of Amherst, not the Village of Williamsville, from 1890 to present. Births taking place in an Amherst home or Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital are filed in the Amherst Town Clerk's Office.
Who Can Order?
Amherst birth certificates are provided for persons over 18 years of age. A parent or guardian must request a copy of a minor's birth certificate. Proof of identification is required. The most commonly accepted form is a valid drivers license.
Copies of Amherst birth certificates for genealogical purposes are available if the birth occurred 75 years ago, unless the applicant is a lineal descendent or has been designated to act on behalf of a lineal descendant. A lineal descendant is a son, daughter, grandson or granddaughter.
