The San Diego County Recorder issues copies of San Diego County vital records including Authorized and Informational copies of San Diego County birth certificates, San Diego County death certificates, public San Diego County marriage records and confidential San Diego marriage records (for marriage licenses that were issued in San Diego County). BIRTH - AUTHORIZED
An authorized, certified birth certificate copy that can typically be used for travel, passport, proof of citizenship, social security, driver's license, school registration, personal identification and other legal purposes. Birth Certificates are available for events that occurred in San Diego County from 1905 to present.

BIRTH INFORMATIONAL COPY
If you are not eligible to receive an authorized copy of the birth certificate, you will receive a certified informational copy with the words 'INFORMATIONAL, NOT A VALID DOCUMENT TO ESTABLISH IDENTITY' imprinted across the face of the copy. This document is primarily used for genealogy and cannot be used for identification purposes.
