The Napa County Recorder (Napa County Vital Records) issues Authorized and Informational copies of Napa County birth certificates, Napa County death certificates and Certified Napa County marriage records (for marriage licenses that were issued in Napa County). If you are not eligible to receive an authorized copy of the death record, you will receive a certified informational copy with the words 'INFORMATIONAL, NOT A VALID DOCUMENT TO ESTABLISH IDENTITY' imprinted across the face of the copy. This document is primarily used for genealogy and cannot be used for legal purposes.

DEATH - AUTHORIZED
An authorized, certified copy of a death record that can typically be used to obtain death benefits, claim insurance proceeds, notify social security and other legal purposes. Death Certificates are available for events that occurred in Napa County from 1873 to present.
