BROWARD COUNTY VITAL RECORDS
The Broward County Division of Vital Records (Broward County Vital Records) issues certified copies of Broward County birth certificates and Broward County death certificates, for events which occurred within Broward County. You may order copies of Broward County vital records through VitalChek on an expedited basis.

BROWARD COUNTY DEATH CERTIFICATES
Broward County Vital Records issues certified copies of Broward County death certificates of individuals who died within Broward County, which can typically be used to obtain death benefits, to claim insurance proceeds and for other legal purposes.

Who Can Order?
Broward County death certificates which do not show the cause of death information are public record and anyone may obtain certified copies. Certified copies of Broward County death certificates which show the cause of death may only be issued to the deceased's spouse or parent, or the deceased's child, grandchild, or sibling, if of legal age, or to any family member who provides a will, insurance policy, or other document that demonstrates the family member's interest in the estate of the deceased, or to any person who provides documentation that he or she is acting on behalf of any of them, or by court order directing to whom a death record may be issued. Cause of death information becomes public information 50 years following the death.

A certified photocopy of the original death record. This death certificate is accepted by all state and federal agencies. It can typically be used to obtain death benefits, claim insurance proceeds, notify social security and other legal purposes. Death Certificates are available for events that occurred in Broward County from 2005 to present.
