The Alaska Bureau of Vital Statistics (Alaska Vital Records) issues certified copies of Alaska birth certificates, Alaska death certificates, Alaska marriage records and Alaksa divorce records for events which occurred within the state of Alaska. ALASKA DEATH CERTIFICATES
Alaska Vital Records issues certified copies of Alaska death certificates of individuals who died within Alaska, which can typically be used to obtain death benefits, to claim insurance proceeds and for other legal purposes.
Who Can Order?
Alaska death certificates are legally confidential in Alaska for 50 years. Alaska death certificates will only be issued to an immediate family member or to persons who can prove legal right to the certificate. When ordering an Alaska death certificate, you must state your relationship to the person named on the certificate or your reason for needing the record. All requests must include a copy of government-issued picture ID of the applicant. Alaska does not accept telephone orders.
