D.C. VITAL RECORDS
The District of Columbia Division of Vital Records (D.C. Vital Records) issues certified copies of D.C. birth certificates and D.C. death certificates for events which occurred within the District of Columbia. You may order copies of D.C. vital records through VitalChek on an expedited basis.

D.C. BIRTH CERTIFICATES
D.C. Vital Records issues only certified copies of D.C. birth certificates, which are typically acceptable for passport, social security, employment, personal identification and other legal purposes.
Who Can Order?
You may order copies of D.C. birth certificates for yourself, your child, your mother or father, or an adult sibling. To order a spouse's birth certificate, you must have a notarized statement authorizing the spouse to obtain a copy of his/her record. Legal guardians, legal representatives and social workers must submit proof of entitlement. Entitlement documentation should be faxed to 202.783.0136, upon completion of your online order.
